Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As the time of year begins when we focus on remembering our Savior's birth, I rejoice in the greatest gift of all--God becoming man to redeem us and restore us to eternal fellowship with Him. What a glorious gift to celebrate every day! I am also thankful for the blessing of serving Christ's body. You are truly a gift from God that I do not deserve!
During this busy time of year, I also hope that you are enjoying the present from Pastor Kevin and myself so that you and your families will stay focused on Christ in the midst of everything else going on. If either of us can help or encourage you in any way during this time, please do not hesitate to let us know.
At the same time, I wanted to let you know a little more about next year's ministries at Cornerstone. For our men's ministry and women's ministry, we are planning to continue gathering monthly next year, with the women meeting at the Lesh's home and the men meeting separately at the Mosby's home. Both groups will be discussing a practical and helpful book by Tim Chester with the title You Can Change: God's Transforming Power for Our Sinful Behavior and Negative Emotions. Our goal is to meet ten times next year, taking June and July off for a summer break. So if you would like for us to order you a copy to share with family members, or more copies if you would prefer to have your own copy, then please let me know by Sunday, December 10th. This way, we can have the books arrive before the end of the year. Each copy of the book is $13, and we are hoping that it will lead to a rich time of fruitful enrichment.
Additionally, I wanted to pass along an update from Pastor Don Lindblad about the Hurricane Relief efforts taking place in Cuba. Here is his message:
Today's mail brought a check in the amount of $1,000.00 from Cornerstone Fellowship made payable to Trinity Reformed Baptist Church for Cuba Hurricane Relief. Thank you so much for giving leadership to this and to the brethren at Cornerstone for this generous gift to help our brothers and sisters in Cuba during a time of real need. Please express to your people my gratitude, as well as the gratitude of faithful friends in Cuba.
The need remains great for some time. I made a survey trip early in November, and the lack of basics is considerable. The damage done to house churches is severe also.
There is an additional blow. You may know from the ARBCA Tuesday Update that Jatniel Perez's seminary building in Velasco suffered considerable damage this past Monday night as a result of a flood. A local dam was breached and the town was flooded. He lost a great deal: appliances, bags of cement to be used for a remodel, food stores, etc.. That noted, the brethren rejoice in the goodness of God to them by way of protection. They are picking up the pieces of their lives. Cubans are incredible resilient. Know that, the resources from the fund, including Cornerstone's gift, will go a long way toward helping them with necessities. Thanks so much.
Cordially in Christ,
Let us continue to pray for the recovery going on there as well as the recovery in Texas and Florida. I look forward to seeing all of you again this Sunday to worship Christ together!
Because of His grace,
